Today is book character day! A day when us students of St Pius X Catholic school come as their favourite book character. We read to encourage ourselves to enjoy reading or become a great reader.
Today the 7th of July I have chosen to come as an orphan girl from the book called Anne of Green Gables. Anne of Green Gables is an amazing book but a very old story. I enjoyed reading the book of Anne Green Gables so many times and hopefully I can look forward to reading new series from Anne of Green Gables.
I am happy and excited in the morning to see some of the Room 7 students wearing their amazing and outstanding costumes. Saveu and Caroline came as a nerd from the story of Captain Underpants, Alecia came as Alice in wonderland, Sammy came as Harry Potter and Lusia and Olga came as Red riding hood.
While the classes, parents and teachers waited for Mr Coakley and our guest to come inside the hall. I gazed at the junior kids costumes and gasped at all the little girls cute dresses and boys scary pirate outfits.
We started singing the New Zealand national anthem and finished of with the sign of the cross in Maori. Each class went to the front and talked about their favourite book characters. Later on our guest introduced herself and talked about how great and fun it is to read. After that Mr Coakley and our guest gave out the Duffy books to each classes. I enjoyed coming in my favourite book character and hopefully St Pius X Catholic school will be able to do this character book day again !!!
