Social Responsibility reflection

What was your level last week:

I think that I was in level 4.

why were you at that level:

I consider myself in level 4 because I worked willingly with everyone, congratulated not only my team members but the other team. I also helped packed the sports equipment without being asked to.

What do you need to do to be in a higher level?

- help others
- share
- try and do these Social responsibility level's outside of school

Social Responsibility

What is Social Responsibility?
Social responsibility is making the right choices through your actions. Whether it's in Pysiccal Education in school or outside of school.
What level were you during our lesson and why?
I think I was at level 3 because I displayed respect and good choices. I showed respect by listening to others such as the P.E teacher/ instructor and also my teammates. I made the right choice by standing up for a team member who is neglected or being put down by others.
What could you do in order to improve your level of Social Responsibility for the next lesson?
I need to improve in working with people that I don't usually work with. Also complimenting others besides my friends and people that I know. That's pretty much it.

1080

I disagree with spraying 1080. Even though it is used to track down the pests but it's also killing other unharmed animals such as our native bird's kiwis. I think that they should put a stop to 1080 because it's too harmful and dangerous for the environment. We need to use a different and unharmful method to track those pests. I think that we should just take the birds and kiwi's to a safe place and then use the 1080.

The Process of a Law

The process of a law:

First, an idea comes into parliament, the government, opposition or people that may be interested.  That idea is turned into a bill which will be written down as a draft.  Now the bill has its first reading in Parliment which is the house of representatives and there are about 120 representatives. After that, the bill is sent to the select committee. The select Committee studies the bill carefully, any interested people can submit ideas on the bill to this committee. After going through the bill, it is sent back to the parliament for its second reading. There's another vote. The bill is voted clause by clause which is called the "House in Committee" stage. The bill is then read to the parliament for the third time and another vote is taken. Lastly, the bill is taken to the Governor-General. The Governor-General makes her decision if she agrees she signs the bill if not the bill is sent back to the select committee.

Government

I disagree and agree with the fact that the Australian government is deporting New Zealand
people. Surely the australian do have the right to send them back for presenting bad behaviour,
although I also disagree that new zealand people are being sent back without fair trial or have not
charged. Since Morrison became Prime minister of Australia, I think that he will have a strong
relationship with Jacinda Adern.

Government

I think that foreign land owners should not be allowed to sell New Zealand bottled water overseas. Just because they bought the land still doesn’t mean they have the right to take our water.  Like Marama Davidson said "We need to ensure that we are not giving away this resource to international corporations to reap profits from at the expense of New Zealand's best interests."  If they use our water they should at least label them and say it’s from New Zealand because the water does not belong to them. I feel disgusted because they are basically using us to benefit themselves. So I  deeply agree that the labour and the green party should make a new Act and stop the company such as Chinese bottler Nongfu Spring Co Ltd from extracting our water.

Cybersmart

CYBERSMART

  • What it means to be cybersmart and why is it important?

Cybersmart is being safe and smart online. It is important to be cyber smart because it protects you from negative influence happening online and helps you to live a better life.

  • Two things you learned about being cybersmart and how you could apply it to your own life?

If I can be more cybersmart then in the future I would probably get a good reputation. I learnt that it’s important not to leave negative comment because if I do I would probably get reported and would be in trouble.

  • A personal strategy a young person can do to help themselves if they are being cyberbullied

Image result for strategy
If I  was being cyberbullied I would go and talk to my mum because she’s the closest person I know. If the situation gets worse then I would report it to do the social worker or the Police.

  • An interpersonal strategy a young person can do to help their friend who is being cyberbullied
Related image
I would stand up for my friend if she is being cyber bullied because no one deserves to be put down or hurt by others though whoever is behind the cyberbully, I would try and talk things out with them.

  • A personal strategy a young person who finds themselves bullying other young people can do to help build their self-esteem and change their behavior

If I put myself in cyberbully shoes, I would appreciate it if others try and communicate with me or even better offer me food.

If I was cyberbullying someone, one strategy I could use is talking to someone about my situation and why I am bullying them online.

  • Tips to give to the year 6s about how they could become cybersmart?
  1. Don’t give out personal information online.
  2. Try not to go on the internet too much.
  3. Report immediately if someone is hacking your social media account.
  4. More importantly please let someone know if your being cyberbullied, the cyberbully would continue if you don’t tell anyone.
  5. If the cyberbully continues then report to the police.

Plastic Bag Ban

Today I read an article on the government decision to ban plastic bags.

I disagree with the government's decision because like Simon bridges said banning plastic bag is not going make any difference. Of course, it would definitely be a good impact on the environment but how would we pack our shopping? Or where do we put our rubbish? The prime minister should focus more on business crisis because from Simon bridges perspective business is a bigger problem then nagging over plastic bags because the supermarkets already have it under control.

Survivor

SURVIVOR:

One of the decisions we had to make was how to build a boat, one of our group member had the skills to build a boat but wanted to build a house first. By solving this problem we agreed that we could build the house first and built the boat later. So basically our biggest challenge was Agreement.

My team members decide that I should be the leader because I know their ability and I mostly come up with smart ideas. As a leader I try my best to communicate with them and draw them together. If we stick together then our lives would last longer.

We completed this task because it's relating to the government. The government should run the country well, accept immigrants and keep up with the community.

Migration model

Migration model shows the movement between two countries which are Tokelau and  New Zealand.  There are 2 reasons why the people of Tokelau is moving away from their homeland. Push reason is when you have to leave your homeland for a negative reason like having less money or climate change. Pull Reason is a when you leave for a good reason such as looking for education.

Tokelau/ SOS

Now that I have accomplished my studies I am very happy to return back to my homeland, longing to meet my beloved family. The changes that has developed in Tokelau gave me the feeling of insecurity because my people are facing challenges such as sea level rising and the bad climate changes. Luckily they use the wall water and stilts to protect themselves. Hopefully, the knowledge that I bring from NZ can support the modernization in my country.

SOS/ 2 concepts:

Today in Social Study I learned 2 new concepts which were sustainability and globalization.

Sustainability is looking at how to keep things going, for example: To be able to maintain the progress in my learning I need to move away from distractions.

Globalization is an international influence whether it is good or bad. For example like the news, they can affect the people's thoughts.

The significance of ANZAC

ANZAC day is a special day where we commemorate those who had sadly died in the war. This ceremony is held on the 25 of April because it was the day that the Austrailian and New Zealand army corps lay foot on Gallipoli. Services are held at dawn because in battles dawn was the perfect time to attack the enemy. Poppies and Biscuits are the main symbols of ANZAC because during the war the only plants that grew were poppies and biscuits were made by the soldier's wives. ANZAC is not only remembering those who fought in the war but most importantly it's a respectful time where we actually thank those man for risking their lives for us.

Taiwan Summary

Nathan and Oscar traveled to some of the Pacific islands such as Samoa, Cook Island, Vanuatu and Taiwan. They traveled these countries to unpack information that would lead them to where their ancestors might have come from.

They discovered that the Lapita pottery could be found underground in the countries of Tonga Fiji, Taiwan and Vanuatu. People who find and study the Lapita pottery are called archaeologists. Whilst learning about the Lapita pottery, they thought that the patterns on the pottery were similar to the Samoan patterns.

The Language and culture were very similar too!  The basic phrases and words are similar between the Cook islands, Taiwanese and the  Maori. What shocked me the most was the way the Taiwanese people were dancing, it was almost like a haka.

They were successful on their journey because they got to know more about their ancestors and where they migrated from.  Most importantly, they learned about the background of all the beautiful islands that they have visited.
