MATARIKI

I learn about the Matariki  and I have learn an amazing fact  about it.
  • Matariki has always been an Important time in the Maori calendar. It was a time for the communities to come together to farewell those who departed and acknowledge the year gone by.

This piece of art here I have drawn the night sky of the seven stars…..The year of Matariki!

CHARACTER BOOK DAY!!!

BOOK  CHARACTER  DAY !!!

Today is book character day!  A day when us students of St Pius X Catholic school come as their favourite book character. We read to encourage ourselves to enjoy reading or become a great reader.

Today the 7th of July I have chosen to come as an orphan girl from the book called  Anne of Green Gables.  Anne of Green Gables is an amazing book but a very old story. I enjoyed reading the book of  Anne Green Gables so many times and hopefully I can look forward to reading new series from Anne of Green Gables.

I am happy and excited in the morning to see some of the Room 7 students  wearing their amazing and outstanding costumes. Saveu and Caroline came as a nerd from the story of Captain Underpants, Alecia came as Alice in wonderland, Sammy came as Harry Potter and Lusia and Olga came as Red riding hood.

While the classes, parents and teachers waited for Mr Coakley and our guest to come inside the hall. I gazed at the junior kids costumes and gasped at all the little girls cute dresses and boys scary pirate outfits.

We  started singing the New Zealand national anthem and finished of with the sign of the cross in Maori. Each class went to the front and talked about their favourite book characters. Later on our guest introduced herself  and talked about how great and fun it is to read.  After that Mr Coakley and our guest gave out the Duffy books to each classes.  I enjoyed coming in my favourite book character and hopefully St Pius X Catholic school will be able to do this character book day again !!!

MY AMAZING NARRATIVE STORY!!!

SELFISH: PART 1
MY NARRATIVE STORY:
Once upon a time, a very long time ago, there lived the most greediest witch in the village … His name was Mr Selfish. The name selfish came from his greedy and nasty behaviour .

When the birth of Mr Selfish came years ago, his parents knew straight away that their child Selfish was going to be a naughty little thing and that life was not going to be unsettled with Selfish and his parents .

As Selfish  grew  up he had no friends and he accepted that he had no friends. Surely because he bullied a lot, show disrespect and will always be greedy to others.

One time when Selfish was playing on the mud at morning break he splashed some dirty mud at  his classmates uniform and ran away before they could go to the teacher and snitch on him. Selfish hated each and every teacher in the school because they mostly  gave him the worst punishment they could think of.

But that was a long time ago, Mr selfish have his own shelter and lives at Valley bridge.  Valley  Bridge is the name of the place he is living at. At Valley Bridge, Mr Selfish next door neighbour is are very rich and tidy family but Mr Selfish is the opposite from his next door neighbour.

Reasons, well first of all it’s because he is lonely and poor,  second of all he is untidy and messy.  Last of all he lives in a small cottage  and it is not as big as his next door neighbours castle.

While he was on his way to the bakery shop he saw the most ugliest cat in his life.  He paused as if he was going to stumble to his feet but instead he waited quietly to see what would the ugly cat do next. The cat stared hard at Mr selfish. Mr selfish was thinking of so many things an ugly cat could do to a human being. W-w-what if he pulls out my eyeball with it’s sharpest claws or…. what if he bite my fingers with it’s smelly breath vampire teeth.

To be continued……. With  SELFISH: PART 2

JESUS LIVED A LIFE OF LOVE

Jesus Christ have lived the life of Love -

The scripture that I have read about is called - Jairus's daughter:

  • To live a life of love is to live a life of compassionate meaning, you have feelings for  that person or someone?

In the scripture Jesus showed the virtue of love by having the compassion to heal Jairus daughter and the bleeding woman all at once.

What happened ?
Jesus Healed a woman who had an issue of blood because she owned up for she was one who touched his clothes . He healed her to live a life of peace. Suddenly a man named Jairus fell down at Jesus feet and beg him to come and see his very ill daughter. He went with Jairus to his place and said the young girl was not ill but sleeping He told her to get up and immediately she got up and walked around the room.

  • Why did Jesus do what he did?
Jesus healed the bleeding woman and Jairus daughter because Jesus wanted to show love by being able to care and heal them.

  • What did you learn from the Scripture ?
I learned that Jesus showed the virtue of love by being compassionate to the bleeding woman and Jairus daughter. Jesus is being compassionate to two female person by healing both of them at once.

  • How can we live like that now?
By showing the virtue of love by being kind, helpful and caring to others even though if you like or hate them you still show the virtue of love.

  • What does it mean to live a life of Jesus?
To make the right choices and love one another
just they way God loves everyone else.

OUR VISIT TO THE MARAE

RECOUNT WRITING OF MY TRIP TO THE RUAPOTAKA MARAE

St Pius X Catholic school had the opportunity to go and explore at the Ruapotaka Marae. Once we arrived the noise settled down and we waited patiently for the welcoming.

Each child or adult had their shoes off  before they  are too entered the Marae. I liked how we sang, create the flax flower and learn the Pepeha which was interesting to know the difference between a Mihimihi and a Pepeha. A Pepeha is when you introduced or greet yourself but a Mihimihi is quite the same as sspeech.

We also had our morning break and lunch at the Marae, I felt  proud now that we, St Pius X Catholic school is now a family of the Ruapotaka Marae. It surely was a marvellous trip. I hope to visit the Ruapotaka Marae some day.
